Make a valentine shoebox for kindergarten

One of Jaxson’s more open-ended projects in kindergarten – customize a shoebox for class valentine exchange.  His challege at the house was to add interaction with some type of user feedback.  He sketched out his ideas for how the electronics would work and how he thought the user would interact – his hypothesis.

He worked through a few interaction prototypes with the littleBits, trying to create what he thought and sketched.  As usual, he realized some constraints and had to adjust.

He drew the hearts for cutting out and lighting, added a few random craft areas and made wirebrush hearts for the top.

I helped him wire up the final lights, switches and sensors for testing.

Boom.  Closed box has cutout hearts on top backlit from lights inside.  Open the box and the hearts on front glow.
