Make Whiteboards

On Wheels

You can never have too many whiteboards… especially in startup world.  From mind-mapping to wire-framing your next project to an idea collaboration session, whiteboards are the canvas for innovation – markers, post-its and just about anything you can tape up.  A whiteboard on wheels is even better – move it, store it and use both sides.

Rolling whiteboards are awesome… and EXPENSIVE.  So instead of spending $300 on a relatively small whiteboard on wheels (did that one too many times), build your own heavy-duty, twice as big, rolling whiteboard out of a garment rack, shower board, insulation board and zip ties.  Oh ya, and for about half the price of the small one.

What you need…

Materials Needed:
1 x retail garment rack (z-frame with casters, extension and extra cross bar)
2 x 5’x8′ pieces of shower board
1 x 5’x8′ pink panther insulation board
12 x zip ties

Tools Needed:
skil saw (I’ve done it with a hacksaw – don’t)
drill
tape measure
marker

On Walls

As awesome as those are, these are FREE.  The leftover shower board pieces are 3’x5’… pretty close to what a standard board you’d pay 20 bucks for at Office Depot.
